i think children should learn their mother tongue first...then teach them to learn new language naturally (e.g. if the
whole family move to a foreign country, then learn the
local language)

What do you think??
I speak Cantonese with my mum and English with my husband. My husband does not know Cantonese and Mandarin. My mum cannot speak English and she is taking care our new born baby.
Now my mum talks to my B in Mandarin. Husband and I to B in English. Since my mum and I speak to each other in Cantonese, do you think B will get confused?
Idon't think it's a problem, I speak Cantonese and English with my son. He speaks Mandarin with my mother-in-law. He is studying in Chinese School, so he speaks Mandarin in school, and speaks English with some of the classmates. The important thing is, we must speak full sentence either in English or Mandarin or Cantonese. Cannot mix the language together.
