I would like to get some advise ....
I am living quite far from central, it takes me around 1.5hr one way to work. I am thinking should I buy a car.
budget: new car, small one, around 200k can full pay
Parking: 2200 per month, 5-10mins walk from home ; no parking at work place but can park there occasionally
The main point that I would like to have a car because if I have better transport to HK side or Kln side, I can do some part time jobs (desirable hourly paid job), estimate 5k to 10k or more a month depends on working hours.
I enjoy driving but I am not an experienced driver.
That depends on what you want to address: your commuting or your crave for driving fun.The latter will prove to be very expensive (parkings, gas, tunnel toll charges etc). While the former will be a lot more economical, and get you to work in less time than a car. BTW, IF you are from US or Canada, it is very easy to get a motorcycle license and exchange for a local license.

Thanks for sharing, but I can't ride on motorbike for some reasons.I understand it will be very expensive provided that I do not have a parking space at work place, that's why I did not drive to work in the previous years. I think of it again only because if I do have a car I can do some part time jobs to cover the cost, and have some fun. Ummm, but you are right, it's really expensive. I can use that money wisely on sth that can generate more $$
Aiii life is tough
but maybe look back years later I'd be glad that I did not buy a car lol
This is a wrong concept, using the part time jobs to cover the expenses of the car is meaningless, why waste the time to do the part time jobs? Moveover driving is not fun in HK, recommend you to think about it deeply...
Yes, car is more or less luxury in HK, but there's no absolute answer whether or not you should buy a car, especially when you regard driving as your interests. Forget about part-time job it's merely a way to make you feel less guilty.
My comment is that ... if you really like it and are able to afford the cost without incurring debt, just go ahead. You could always stop and sell it if things turn out differently.
i can afford a car without a part time job... i m not driving for work unless occasionally i get a parking space.
the car is for leisure use
the reason i stated i may do some part time jobs is because even they are well paid and easy. i am reluctant to go because of commuting
if i have a car then i will not mind working 10hrs more a month and that also can cover all the costs
thats one of the option but i think its more practical to stay ehere i live now which is quite and buy a flat a rent out. hk side is too hectic. and its expensive too..
