(医疗报告 : Hormone residues in beef have been implicated in the early onset of puberty in girls, which could put them at greater risk of developing breast and other forms of cancer.
Report from a US Dr:
Buying hormone-free meat and dairy products can be expensive. As a less costly option, try to minimize your family's consumption of the conventional products, substituting other meats (pork or venison for example) and meat alternatives such as soy foods.
The USDA does allow farmers to use antibiotics to prevent or treat diseases in all farmed animals, although the drugs must be withheld for a period of time prior to slaughter so that any residues fall below federal limits. Even so, I believe that this practice is ill-advised since it contributes to the escalating problem of antibiotic-resistant bacteria throughout the world. The words "no antibiotics added" on meat or poultry products indicate that the producer has satisfied the USDA’s Food Safety and Inspection Service that the animals were raised without antibiotics.
According to the European Union’s Scientific Committee on Veterinary Measures Relating to Public Health, the use of six natural and artificial growth hormones in beef production poses a potential risk to human health.iii These six hormones include three which are naturally occurring—Oestradiol, Progesterone and Testosterone—and three which are synthetic—Zeranol, Trenbolone, and Melengestrol.
The Committee also questioned whether hormone residues in the meat of "growth enhanced" animals and can disrupt human hormone balance, causing developmental problems, interfering with the reproductive system, and even leading to the development of breast, prostate or colon cancer.iv
Children, pregnant women and the unborn are thought to be most susceptible to these negative health effects. Hormone residues in beef have been implicated in the early onset of puberty in girls, which could put them at greater risk of developing breast and other forms of cancer. The European Union’s Committee reported that as of 1999, no comprehensive studies had been conducted to determine whether hormone residues in meat can be cancer-causing.v
Some people are under the impression that some plant proteins are devoid of at least one essential amino acid. The truth is that all plant proteins (that I have looked up) have some of every essential amino acid. (soy, legumes, nuts, grains, fruit and vegetables.)
Proteins in the human body tend to have a consistent percentage of the essential amino acids. The percentages of essential amino acids in both animal products and soy products closely mimic those found in human proteins. Non-soy plant proteins have a lower percentage of at least one amino acid (in particular, beans are lower in methionine and grains are lower in lysine).
There have not been many studies measuring the protein or amino acid status of vegans. Because vegans tend to have good health and vegan diets normally meet the essential amino acid RDA, it is assumed that amino acid and protein intake is a non-issue for those on a typical vegan diet. But, since I often get questions about protein and amino acids, and so that vegans can be more knowledgeable about them.
