Mywater broke and a slight show while asleep at 6am on 2 June 2012. However, contractions had not started.
I thencalled the hospital and was told to go in slowly.
I had a shower and washed my hair and then hadbreakfast.
Wechecked into the hospital at 9am.
Ourdoctor came in at 11am and unfortunately, I had not dilated at all!
This was very disappointing.
He suggested that he would apply some gel tokick start the labour.
Istarted walking around with the hope to kick start the process.
My contractions then began slowly.
We moved to labour room at around 11.45am.
The contractions got stronger and morefrequent but were bearable.
Eventually, first stage labour was established at 1pm.
The pain got stronger and my tears came every time the level of painrose.
I sat on fit ball and wasbreathing through the pain.
By3pm, the midwife checked thinking that I should have dilated more butunfortunately, I was only dilated to 2-3cm!
She suggested that I changed position to sideway.
My pain increased significantly and themidwife said that’s the way to go to dilate.
So I had to keep this position.
Thishad become so painful.
I had to holdonto my husband tightly every time the contraction came.
I was able to breath through the smallcontractions but it was really hard to tolerate the big ones, which were mostof them.
Mydoctor was called to come in.
I wasdilated to 8cm at 5pm and had an uncontrollable urge of pushing.
Another half an hour had gone by, I knew Iwas already pushing in some way.
I wastold to push by the doctor at 5.30pm.
Itwas so hard, because I was in extreme pain but had to exert force as well.
I felt like there was a bowling ball Insideme.
My doctor and the midwife was verygood at controlling and guiding this process.
Ourbaby boy was born at 5.51pm!!!
My husband hadtears in his eyes when the baby came out! He cut the umbilical cord as well!
Mydoctor told me that I had very small tear that wouldn’t require stitching.
I was so glad I went through the labour with noepisiotomy and absolutely no pain relief.
My baby was weighted3.6kg / 7.15 pounds, 2 weeks a day early!
