Are you going to London for the first time? Leeds Castle in outskirt of London is also a very lovely place. It has the fame of being the most beautiful castle in the UK.
Are you staying at Paris for the whole week? If you can spare some time, you may consider going to Provence in southern France. July is the season for lavender and it's the best time in the year to travel in this area.
try the lonely planet and frommers website. Just put www and com before and after their name and you will get lots of idea of what to do.
If you browse over the lonely planet series, I mean the book, not from the website, you will find suggested itinery. Say if you have three days, five days, a week, a month for a place, what are the things that you should not miss.
A not so popular but definitely worth the while visit in Paris:
- Musee d'Orsay - it has the best collection of Impressionism artwork, with a lot of famous paintings from the best artists.
- Montmarte - the white church is stunningly beautiful and the market outside is worth a stroll.
d"Orsay is great if you like the impressionists. Famous paintings by Van Gogh, Renoir, Monet and Manet. There is a little book for kids about some of the most famous exhibits in the museum sold at the museum shop right at the entrance. It makes great presents for young children.
There will be a lavender festival in Monmarte in July. Papers said everything there will be decorated with the flower or the colour lavender. Go and search it from google. Actually there's a coverage from yesterday's Mingpao. Montmarte is superb in the evening and at night, enchanting atmosphere. Since it is at the highest point, you have great view of Paris too. Lots of artistic acitivities. Abundant cheap but stylish restaurants. Don't miss the Louvre too. You can spend a whole day there.
Last thing, the Effiel Tower is fantastic at night. If you don't like to pay to climb up, just walk around at the ground and it's even more romantic with all the lights on. It even flashes like shining stars at particular times at night.(Not at all sure with the time, perhaps every half an hour after dark, check with the locals)

1. Cambridge: you can play punting here.
2. Greenwich
3. London Eye
4. Musicals: don't miss it, I have watched Phantom of the Opera last time, unforgettable!
Paris:
1. Musee National du Louvre: Free entry for 1st Sunday of each month, but not sure now!
2. Eurodisney: don't go if your schedule is tight. No firework at night during my last visit
3. Night tour in 塞納河 with dinner: very romantic but need formal dressing
4. d"Orsay: good and not as crowded as Musee Louvre.
5. Montmartre: don't miss "Sacre Coeur", it is very beautiful.
If this is your first time, suggest you to buy a book named "西歐遊" from 歐陸旅運. It is not as detailed as Lonely Planet, but those information is enough for your planning.
