I went in March i think Chiang Mai is good to travel as food and things are cheap there but the air pollution is severe. Due to the dry weather there\'s so much forest fire and it makes Chiang Mai quite smelly. I would recommend it to adults only but not with kids becuz of the bad air. Not sure if the situation has been better now.
Also Chiang Mai has no beach at all as it is the inland city, so main things to do are to eat, shop and doing massage n spa etc. must go to the Sunday night market (5-10.30pm). Living standard is low so things are cheaper than Bangkok and Phuket etc. I did enjoy the stay there afterall.
U can consider hotels such as Anantara, Rarin Jinda etc.
