Perhaps you don't need to re-sit for the road test. What you need to do are:
1. Sit and pass the written test.
2. Bring along your expired AUS driver and your valid HK driver licence. This is to prove that you keep having lots of practical driving experience after the expiry of your AUS driver licence.
3. Talk nicely to the Transport Officer
Then, you may be able to obtain your AUS driver licence without re-sitting the road test and wearing the P-plate for the specified period in VIC.
you still need the road test. but if you can prove that you are holding a driving license for like 20years, you can get a full license straighaway. (no P plates needed)
